Commercial dinning locations like Keller’s at the Isle of Capri Casino, Cape Girardeau, MO, can often feel disconnected from the adjoining indoor spaces when the floor surface changes going from the indoor space to the outdoor space. Although using different flooring finishes can be used to creatively define places within the space it can also break the continuity and flow of a large expanse and the feeling of the indoor moving out.
Outdoor Tile Dinning In Missouri
At this rooftop open air view of Mississippi River, the Architect choose a better solution to bring it all together using a plank style, thin gauge porcelain tile. The 2400+ square foot, 2012 tile install needed to be used inside and also in the outdoor locations. The Outdoor Floor System® pedestal assembly, Deck Plank and other components have proved to be the ideal solution. Here it was used to support the interior/exterior tile in the outside dinning areas, the customer and service traffic and the exterior chair and table furnishings.
This application is located in a region with a variety of weather conditions including winter freeze thaw cycles, heavy rains and the occasional wind storm. None of these conditions has been a problem for some very simple reasons:
- Construct to a level surface
- Zero maintenance no-grout finish
- Positive free draining to waterproofing
- Unaffected by freeze-thaw cycles
- Commercial active dinning
- Support a beautiful tile finish
The visual effect and function have worked. Outdoor Floor System® and the elePHOOT® brand have made extensive advances in supporting a variety of new finishes in similar rooftop commercial conditions, extending the creative indoor envelope to the outdoors.
